SYNOPSIS

This is the latest novel from Dr. Lucinda Berry, a former clinical psychologist and leading researcher in childhood trauma.

Felicia, a divorce lawyer, volunteers at a local crisis centre in a small Wisconsin town. Her sister committed suicide and she wants to prevent that from happening to others. When she answers a disturbing call from a frantic teenage girl, Chloe, who tells her that she was a victim of sexual assault at a house party and is on the edge, Felicia gives the girl her phone number in a desperate attempt to keep her safe. When the girl continues to communicate further, Felicia realizes that her son was at that same house party, and he came home that night with scratches on his body. When she confronts her son, he is quick to deny any association with the girl and explains that she’s always looking for attention. As Felicia continues her own investigation, she faces a gut-wrenching battle between her protective instincts and the moral responsibility to do what’s right.
